Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions about Latter-day Saints or what we believe? You’re not alone. Below are answers to some of the most common things people ask.
If you’d like to learn more, we’d be happy to connect you with local missionaries.
Are members of the Church Christians?
Absolutely. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we follow Jesus Christ. He is the Son of God, our Savior, and the foundation of our faith.
Some of our beliefs and practices may differ from other Christian denominations, but our commitment to Jesus Christ is unwavering. We try to live His teachings every day and become more like Him.
What are Church services like?
Most congregations follow a similar Sunday schedule. Services begin with a main gathering called a sacrament meeting, where we sing hymns, pray, and hear uplifting talks shared by members of the congregation.
The most sacred part is the sacrament (similar to communion), where we remember Jesus Christ and renew our commitment to Him.
Afterward, smaller classes are held for children, youth, and adults. These classes are a chance to learn, ask questions, and build community.

Do I have to be a member to attend church?
Not at all. Everyone is welcome to attend Latter-day Saint services, whether you’re exploring, returning, or just curious. You’ll find a respectful, friendly environment where you’re free to observe and participate at your own pace.
What should I wear to church?
Most people wear modest “Sunday best,” like dresses, skirts, shirts, or ties, but there’s no dress code. You’re welcome to come in, whatever makes you feel comfortable and respectful.
What is the Book of Mormon?
The Book of Mormon is a book of scripture that strengthens our belief in Jesus Christ. It was compiled by an ancient prophet named Mormon, who recorded the spiritual history of his people—people who faced real challenges and found hope through faith in Christ.
It’s not a replacement for the Bible, but a companion to it—another witness of Jesus Christ and His role as Savior. Together, the Bible and the Book of Mormon give a more complete view of God’s love and His plan.
Do Latter-day Saints believe in the Bible?
Yes—absolutely. The Bible is a sacred book and a cornerstone of our faith. We believe it’s the word of God and a powerful guide to understanding His will and the life of Jesus Christ.
We also study the Book of Mormon and other scriptures that support and expand our understanding of God’s teachings. These books help us grow closer to Christ and live His gospel more fully.
